I am particularly intrigued by the transformation of a quilt from its initial sketch to final form, as the fabric ultimately becomes my canvas.

A woman in a brown sweater working with a Juki sewing machine and a computer on a sewing table, with a quilted fabric underneath.

My creative process begins with an idea that often arises during the course of daily life, sometimes even before I have completed the quilt currently in progress. I translate this idea onto paper, and from there the work evolves as I explore techniques that allow the image to be rendered to a fabric in a way that ensures visual integrity and longevity.

I use a wide range of high-quality fabrics, with cotton, cotton batiks, and linens being my favorites. Cotton batiks offer a smooth, soft feel, while linens add a rich texture. When I’m working with heavier upholstery fabrics to create more substantial quilts it allows me to introduce an even broader variety of tactile textures.

A wide range of techniques are used within each piece, contributing to a level of uniqueness that makes every quilt distinctive.
